Slate Shower Stripped, Cleaned, and Sealed
Slate Shower Improperly Sealed
A less-than-reputable contractor used a topical sealer on this slate tile shower in Phoenix, Arizona. Using topical sealer in this shower was an improper restoration method. Although it looked fantastic at first, the like-new appearance did not last. The slate finish eventually developed calcium build up—a chalky, powdery white residue caused by moisture being trapped in the stone by the topical sealer. In addition, dirt and grime deposits collected in areas where the topical sealer had worn away.
Our Slate Restoration Process
First we stripped the shower walls and floor, completely removing all the old topical sealer. Then, we cleaned and neutralized the stone. Our final step was to apply an enhancing sealer. Slate sealing with an enhancing sealer is the proper way to refinish slate, and it will not cause the same problems the homeowner previously experienced.
The homeowners really liked the nice bold color that our slate restoration services achieved.
