At Greenwood Memory Lawn Mortuary & Cemetery, a beautiful place of reflection, the appearance of this headstone had become diminished. The Saenz family sought out the services of a professional stone contractor to restore this permanent memorial in Phoenix, Arizona, for their loved one.
The headstone had a semi-permanent muddy sort of appearance, even after it had been washed, because of iron and calcium deposits. We used a combination of rust remover (rust is oxidized iron) and a pH-neutral, stone safe cleaner to neutralize the acids and prevent stone damage. To remove the calcium deposits, dirt, and grime, we used other professional cleaning solutions. In stubborn areas, we gently scrubbed with a mildly abrasive cleaning pad. We were very careful to avoid causing any damage to the stone as we worked.
We also refreshed the engravings and inscriptions with black Lithichrome Stone Paint.
It was our honor to help preserve the legacy of this deceased member of the Saenz family.
