Dull-Looking Red Marble

With gorgeous views of the Phoenix Country Club golf course, this spacious, elegant marble bathroom in Phoenix (Arcadia) was perfect. Almost. Traffic and use had taken a toll on the stone, wearing away the shine. Natural light from the arched windows revealed scratches and etch marks on the floor’s surface.

The homeowners, one a luxury home realtor and the other a high end custom home construction company owner, had the knowledge and experience to know that this floor was in need of some professional attention.

How We Restored the Luster

We implemented our restoration process in several stages. First, we performed intensive grinding using a high-powered machine with diamond encrusted pads to remove the etches and wear. Replacing the pads with progressively finer grits, we honed the floor to prepare it for the polishing process.

Using a natural stone polishing compound to achieve an even, high-polish finish, we polished the floor. Notice the beautiful, glossy shine in the AFTER image. Look how clear the reflection is compared to the BEFORE image. We finished up with a natural stone penetrating sealer to inhibit staining.
