Granite Crack Repair in Gilbert
Homeowners in Gilbert, Arizona, loved their granite countertops and copper sink, so when a large crack appeared on the granite, they were very disappointed. They attempted a DIY repair, but the repair site was obvious, and it did not look like it would hold up long term. They reached out to us after seeing examples of similar projects we successfully completed.
Our granite repair process is a little more involved than what these images show. The reason the granite had cracked was that a metal rebar installed by fabricators to stabilize the granite during transport had become exposed to moisture, causing it to rust and expand. We removed this rebar to put a stop to any future damage to the stone.
To repair the granite countertop, we reassembled the pieces with color-matched, structural grade epoxy, forming a very strong bond. To blend in the repair site with surrounding stone and to give the countertop an overall like-new appearance, we honed and polished the stone, matching the finish of the repair site to the finish of the rest of the countertop.
The homeowners were amazed at how inconspicuous the repair site was compared to what it looked like when we first arrived.
